Lauren Elise Macgregor Melbourne based jewellery designer who has been creating jewellery since 2003. Before discovering her love of jewellery, Lauren commenced her artistic career while attending Wollongong High School of the Performing Arts where she was commissioned to design and create the sets, backdrops and props for the annual school pantomime for six years. After high school Lauren went on to do a Diploma of Fine Arts and undertook further training in graphic design and multimedia.
Lauren?s first experiences with beads came when she was still in high school and would make elaborate decorated boxes using beads. Later after high school her beaded boxes would be displayed in various shops in Victoria such as Muse, Worn in the USA, Rose Emporium and other gift shops. It was Lauren?s father who suggested she try her hand at jewellery making. It wasn?t long after this when she spotted the 10 year anniversary edition of Bead and Button which featured a picture of a necklace cuff by Sherry Serafini on its front page. Lauren was mesmerized by the detail and beauty of Sherry?s work and it opened her eyes to the wonderful possibilities that can be captured in beadwork. She instantly fell in love with seed beading.
In 2007 Lauren Elise Macgregor had her first solo exhibition ?The Allure of Beaded Adornment? at the Charles Smith Gallery in Fitzroy which ran for six weeks. Her work has featured in many of the top beading magazines such as Australian Beading, Creative Beading and Beads Etc. Lauren?s award winning work has also been featured at Vine Creation and Maria George where she teaches regular seed beading classes. Later this year two of Lauren?s tutorials will be published in a book by Creative Beading titled Beading Inspirations for Woodlands Publishing.
